The Illegal Internet Gambling Enforcement Act and online payment methods for casinos

The team at CasinoLabRat.com is closely monitoring the progress of this inane US legislation. It has impact outside online gambling with US citizens losing out on the opportunity to buy many legitimate goods and services safely over the Internet.

Many payment providers are taking a conservative ‘no US residents’ approach rather than implementing methods to identify and specifically block gambling payments while permitting other online transactions.

Here’s the latest information we have to hand on how online casino players from the USA are making payments: (Green means US players are good 2 go, Red means US players are blocked)

Moneybookers – From late October no USA Residents can operate Moneybookers accounts.

Firepay – Was very quick to react and now no longer accepts USA transactions.

UsemyBank – Is just for Canadians

Paypal – Has never accepted US gambling related transactions

EcoCard – still accepts USA residents (A great casino for US Players from 19 States accepting ECOcard is Yukon Gold Casino (Microgaming))

PaySpark – We have had emails from PaySpark reps stating that it is business as usual for US citizens. (A great casino that accepts US Players and Payspark is Blackjack Ballroom (Microgaming))

Neteller – As a publicly listed company, NETELLER has announced that it will comply with the new US anti gambling legislation within the 270 day period alloted by the US Government but this is subject to full terms being issued by the US. In the interim it is business as usual & USA Residents can use NETELLER for all Internet payment transactions. (Our recommende casino for US players wanting to pay via Neteller is Blackjack Ballroom (Microgaming))

MyCitadel and Citadel Commerce – Business as usual (We recommend Pinnacle Casino for US players wanting to pay by Citadel)

epassporte – business as usual for USA residents but not many good casinos accept this payment method (Full Tilt Poker and Doyles Room Poker do though)

Western Union – still OK for US residents at this stage but a convoluted deposit process (We recommend Pinnacle Casino for US players wanting to pay by Western Union)

Click2Pay – we are waiting on confirmation of their stance.
