So, once again I’m pacing myself…(I love going on a spree and try out all the latest slots game releases!) so here’s a quick review of the first of the new slots I’ve played from the set: Gladiator
100 free spins – like, wow! Once you trigger the free spins bonus feature this new slot game almost plays itself – and as it’s 50 paylines there always seems to be winning action. The free spins do seem to go on forever (just like a Roman epic) so much so that I needed a coffee break while they played out…(yawn)! No wonder the graphics included a picnic lunch (or is it a roast dinner?)
Golden Eagles trigger the magnificent 100 Free Spins (with variable multipliers depending on how many eagles triggered the bonus) – even the scatter is stylish. A new game feature from Microgaming surfaces in Gladiator slot too – this “Mixed Play” payout feature is activated when the Gladiator and the Empress? (his wife? girlfriend?) appear together on a payline.
The background audio is well suited to a Roman epic, Microgaming has really captured a suprizingly romantic side to the killing in the Coliseum and the battle for glory. And, no it’s not just because the gladiator reminds me of Paul, my better half, (except for his long flowing tresses (the Gladiator’s not Paul’s!)) but the feasting, fine wines and roses that abound rather than stabby gory bits. The characters also all look a bit too clean and refined for a dusty sweaty killfest.
Over all the game is way, way better than Microgaming’s earlier and somehow gloomy Roman Gladiator themed 5 reel slot called “Glory of Rome“. (Remember it had the ugly emperor and the Empress looked more like a tired but popular hooker?)
Game Recommendation: Gladiator gets my “must play” rating – even if it’s just to experience what 100 free spins can do for your casino account balance! I was pleasantly surprised. Hope you will be too!
