New Casino Games: Days of the Tsar, Bomber Girls and Lucky Shot Slots

June 4th, 2008

Well… time for more slots reviews as those busy beavers at Microgaming have been slaving to release June’s new slots.

Days of the Tsar new Microgaming slotFirst up is Days of the Tsar Slot. It’s a 25 payline slot machine with an Imperial Russian theme – the Tsar symbol of course is the substitute for all other images (except the Faberge Egg… but we’ll come on to that…). The top win results from 5 Tsars, and if you stake 20 coins/line (bet max) you can win 200,000 coins. Nice. I haven’t so far but am hopeful 🙂

Faberge Eggs courtesy of MicrogamingThe Days of the Tsar free spins feature triggers when 3 or more Faberge Eggs appear (and if you’ve been watching Antique’s Roadshow you’ll not only know they’re stylish but valuable too!). Each egg reveals a number and you add them together to get how many free spins you’ve won. All wins are doubled during free spins and an additional free spin is awarded for each F/Egg symbol that shows up during your free spins (which is far better than just not giving you anything as some of the more mean slots do!)

We like slots with a gamble feature like Days of the Tsar as you can turn a medicore win into something quite pleasing if you’re canny enough to quadruple it!

Overall, the game is very reminscent of Glory of Rome (funny that as I suspect it was from the same designer’s desk!), right down to a fairly sour looking Tsaress? Empress? and the Tsar waving regally when he deigns to pay out. The annoying clicketa clicketa noise is back (but can be turned off as a background sound option)  The was seal icon is interesting (I originally thought it was a cookie with crumbs or a pretty naf coin. Doh! 🙂 )

I like this new slot, but not nearly as much as….Bomber Girls Slot!

Bomber Girls surprisingly musical and lots of funBomber Girls slot is a completely different style of game. With very jazzy sound track and six different animated girls that wave flags, salute and giggle. (Or wave stethescopes if they’re a nurse, or money wrenches if a mechanic, etc) The “good time girl” in red with a hibiscus in her hair is the highest paying in a payline. Most symbols animate when in a payline (like the bombs drop and the spitfire plane flies, even the goggles reflect the action in the sky! Excellent and way better than a string of (9,10,J etc).Good time girl - 5 adjacent in a payline gives a big payout

Bonus game for Bomber Girls slot from MicrogamingI’m not so sure about the whole “glorifying war” thing that this slot reeks of, but hey, it’s fun – and you can win up to 150,000 coins. You can win up to 14 free spins with a x3 payout (3 or more compass symbols triggers free spins). There’s a scatter Pay Bonus (win up to 20,000 coins) and a High-Low Bonus plays like a game of cards and you can gamble to double the payout. The bonus game can be triggered during free spins (yay!).

Lucky Shot Golfing slotLastly we have Lucky Shot Slot. They’re billing this one as “Out just in time for the US Open” and Lucky Shot is Microgaming’s first golf themed slot machine.

Bonus Gopher RoundThe stylised people in Lucky Shot are not to my taste  (kinda remind me of Prime Property for people who know their slots!) I personally prefer either the photo realism of games like Hitman or Tomb Raider II or the cheerful colourful style of Bomber Girls.

Gophers everywhere! Not a great golf course! You can win up to 60,000 coins on Lucky Shot and the Gopher Bonus triggers with 3 or more of the little critters and can pay up to 300x your total bet! There is also a Free Spins bonus triggered by 3 or more adjacent golf carts which also pays out up to 50X your total bet. 5 Lucky Shot game symbols scores you a cool 15,000 coins in one spin.
Be one of the first to play these fun new slot machines at your favorite Microgaming Casino. They’re download games (ie not instant Flash play – but you can join up as a guest to play from free if you like)
