Kit_cat_Kate, a CasinoLabRat.com blog reader played the Alien Hunter game that featured in a recent blog posting on new Playtech games, and wrote in:
“As a great fan of anything with UFOs and Aliens I actually find the Real Time Gaming slot Outta This World more fun than the Alien Hunter slots machine you mentioned in your blog. It’s one of my favourites – check it out!”
OK – so we did, we checked out Outta This World – and found it pretty cool. It features expanding substitutes in the form of a wee alien tyke that appears and expands to cover a full reel – and pays out accordingly!
A bonus feature is triggered when the whirling purple blackholes appear on reels 2 and 4 – and from there you go on to select planets from the 10 you’re offered to reveal prizes until you reveal 2 aliens. You can win up to x100 your bet as a bonus as well as lots of free spins.
Overall rating: We enjoyed Outta This World – perhaps a little long between feature wins for our taste but it’s a slot with lots happening. We came out ‘even money’ having played for a total of 2.5 hours – and he is a cute little alien dude.

With lesser wins sounding a bit like a cross between a china dinner bell and a sonic shower off StarTrek, it’s easy to be put off early in this game. Once the free spins feature is triggered however you get full-on ‘almost X-files’ audio. And you can win free spins within your free spins bonus (some casino games software does not support this!)
The first time I played I didn’t realise there were 3 bonus feature games – and I never saw an alien egg once. I had a break and came back and it was like playing a different game!
In the ALIEN EGG BONUS you collect eggs (and hopefully find the super-egg to double your wins) – finding the alien means the mission is over and you cash up your winnings.
The spaceship bonus offers a choice of 2 games (it’s triggered by a couple of guys with the big chin wearing a fish bowl).
- SHARPSHOOTER BONUS – you have 15 seconds to hit up to 6 aliens – and some move faster than others. (Tip: Try for the nasty little red guys, they’re fastest but worth the most $)
- If your eye-hand coordination is not so great try the TEST YOUR LUCK game instead – no time limit and the aliens are slower to escape. It’s a random prize payout on this one but usually not as lucrative as the Sharpshooter bonus option.
Overall slots game rating: Fun once you’re into it and well worth a look. Play Alien Hunter just for fun in demo/guest mode or take a punt and play for real money.

Did you know that the dealer’s average non-blackjack winning hand is 18.56?
This table shows the average dealer score, assuming:
- the dealer does not bust
- the dealer has already checked for blackjack
The average dealer hand total increases with the number of decks and that the average score is 0.0405 higher when the dealer hits soft 17.
That means the probability that the dealer will bust is only 0.00403 higher when the dealer hits a soft 17. That’s 10.05 extra dealer points per dealer bust. This, hopefully, goes to show why it is bad for the player if the dealer hits a soft 17.
